Visit to Jamae Chulia Mosque

Visit to Jamae Chulia Mosque

On 21 January 2026, a group of curious souls gathered for a Helix House Signature event at one of Singapore’s oldest and most historic mosques, Masjid Jamae Chulia.

Attendees were treated to a private and intimate exploration of the mosque’s rich history and architecture. Designed by an Irish architect, the interior design of the mosque stands out for its unique blend of Eastern and Western influences. Intricate Chinese glazed tiles adorn the space, creating a visual tapestry that reflects Singapore’s multicultural heritage.

One of the highlights from the afternoon was a guided session by Dr Rafi, who is an active volunteer of the mosque. He graciously walked the group through the practices of Islam. From a step-by-step explanation of prayer to a live demonstration of ablution (the purification ritual before prayer), the experience was both educational and deeply immersive. Finally, our visit concluded with an open conversation about Islam and religion in general. This was such a rare and special exchange that left everyone with a newfound sense of appreciation and understanding.

It was an afternoon well spent, and we are so grateful to have had the opportunity to explore Masjid Jamae Chulia. Until the next heritage adventure!
