Helix House Student Ambassadors
Meet the Helix Anti-Vape Ambassadors
Nitish (Data Science and Analytics), Han Yang (Computer Science), ChenTian (Computer Engineering), Ryan Sim (Life Sciences), and Sampurna (Psychology) took an extra step to become the Anti-Vape Ambassadors for Helix House!
Recognising the importance of raising awareness about the dangers of vaping, Nitish, Han Yang, Chen Tian, Ryan Sim, and Sam are committed to championing this cause and leading by example within the Helix House community.
Their roles as ambassadors offer them opportunities to champion a cause they deeply believe in, working together to educate their peers and promote healthier choices within the community. They will be the driving force behind a series of impactful initiatives aimed at discouraging vaping.
Their commitment to the cause and determination to make a positive impact showcase their leadership and dedication to improving the health and well-being of those around them.
Why did you choose to become an Anti-Vape Ambassador?
“I hope that by taking up this position, I am able to advocate against vaping and promote a safer culture for my peers and others.” - Nitish
“I wanted to step up as an anti-vape ambassador because I care about the space we share and the people living in it. Vaping has become so normalized in daily life that it’s easy to overlook its impact on our health, budgets, and overall living environment. My goal is to help keep our hostel a clean, comfortable place to live, support peers who are looking to cut back, and promote a culture where no one feels pressured to pick up the habit..” - Han Yang
“I want to contribute to building a supportive environment in Helix where people feel comfortable talking about stress, coping, and healthier alternatives, instead of turning to vaping.” - Sampurna
"I believe the rise in popularity of vaping puts Singapore at risk of widespread addiction, lest we provide strong countermeasures to them. I chose to be an Anti-Vape ambassador to keep addiction and reliance of narcotics away from my House and University." - Ryan
"I served SPF during NS, and I had a lot of exposure to anti-vape enforcement and saw how serious it can be. I know the harm of vaping really well, and I just want to share what I’ve learned with residents so we can make our campus a healthier and better place together." - ChenTian
What are your hopes for Helix House regarding this Anti-Vape movement?
“My hope is to develop a supportive and zero-shame culture. I believe that everyone has a right to seek help without judgement and I want to create that safe avenue for those that need help to feel comfortable reaching out.” - Nitish
“My goal is to help normalise conversations around vaping and equip residents with the knowledge to make informed choices.” - Sampurna
We look forward to exciting activities and initiatives from our Anti-Vape Ambassador
